OWLISH by Dorothy Tse: a Supernormal book talk

Doors 15:30, starts 16:00, entrance free

A rare chance to catch one of Hong Kong’s most celebrated avant garde writers in person, in Amsterdam, in conversation! Dorothy Tse will be at De Nieuwe Anita to talk about her novel OWLISH with her English translator, Natascha Bruce.

OWLISH is a novel ~ kind of ~ about a sexually frustrated literature professor with a mid-life crisis and a serious doll fetish and  ~ kind of ~ about a fairytale-esque Hong Kong. But it’s also about protest, the things we (choose to) see and the things we don’t, and the profound danger of apathy in the face of the status quo.

All of which is to say: it’s a book for our times. Dorothy and Natascha will also be talking about translation, collaboration and (if you like) animal metaphors. Come ask them questions!

No prior knowledge of the book required. No tickets. Books will be on sale afterwards, and Dorothy will sign yours for you if you like.
