Based between Amsterdam and Rotterdam, The Ensemble of Cultural Approximation (T.E.C.A.) is a fresh musical collective rapidly establishing itself in the Dutch underground scene. It’s is an unconventional name for an unconventional band. T.E.C.A. delivers an authentic sound that they have coined “Shroombia”, a high-energy blend heavily inspired by various connotations of Latin American musical idioms, reinterpreted with a snappy, dreamy, and sometimes raw contemporary edge. It’s their own take on styles like cumbia, that they were inspired by when they saw Eblis Alvarez (Meridian Brothers, Los Piranas, Chupame El Dedo) perform.

Since their formation one year ago, T.E.C.A. has built a reputation for electrifying live shows, performing at venues such as Paradiso, WORM, and Garage Noord, as well as Landjuweel and BUT film festival, and playing support for one of their inspirations: Romperayo. With a successful tour in Sicily and Lithuania and their debut EP Abedè already under their belt, the band is currently working on their first full length album and a collaboration with Conjunto Media Luna is on it’s way!
