Marie & Willem
Marie schrijft teksten over het alledaagse die tegelijk een diepere laag hebben. Veel ervan staat symbool voor het nuchtere, maar soms harde leven op het platteland. Met subtiele percussie begeleidt Willem zijn zus. Je waant je in een warm bad waarin je even helemaal naar jezelf terugkeert.
&The
Partially rough-edged, partially intricate, &The weave songs with toil and care, like a sturdy and comforting hug or a playfight with your best mate.
On their album Sunchoke &The show their versatility with slow, sad songs and fast, raw and rhythmic songs to bop to. Further showcased by their inventive choice in covers (At The Drive-In, Sonny Sharrock, Ecco2K) and the way they remake these songs totally anew. Even having surprising remixes on this album by Burchhhha (from Supermarkt and Mxchxxl) and Maeve Chustar. &The is brimming with a colorful, creative energy. Especially with the addition of Tzula on harp. You might wonder what they sound like? ‘Endearing’? ‘Adorable’? ‘Lovely’?
