New York Jazz Club brings the irresistible vibe of the Big Apple to Amsterdam!
Amsterdam has a long history as one of the European capitals of Jazz, next to Paris, Copenhagen and London. Many American legends such as Chet Baker, Ben Webster or Johnny Griffin spent a significant amount of time in the Netherlands. Influenced and schooled by these grandmasters there is a whole generation of Dutch legends such as Rita Reys, Pim and his brother Ruud Jacobs, John Engels or Han Bennink that have been passing on the knowledge to future generations of jazz musicians. While not always very visible to the public eye, this music has
always been very alive in Amsterdam.

The Dam Jawn feat. JEREMY PELT
The group The Dam Jawn consists of young, international musicians from the Amsterdam jazz scene who got to know each other in Philadelphia. There, they decided to record their debut album Master Street (Challenge, 2023). The name Dam Jawn refers to the Amsterdam base of the group, you see, Dam, is a part of the name, which is Amsterdam, and if you know the city, maybe you have been to Dam Square before? At the New York Jazz Club The Dam Jawn will present their new album “Triphasic” featuring the American trumpeter Jeremy Pelt (1976). Pelt has played with greats such as Ravi Coltrane, Roy Hargrove, Greg Osby and Cassandra Wilson. The Dam Jawn aren’t about sticking to a particular style or genre, but prefer instead to constantly expand their horizons, in search of ever new sounds. Check em out here!
Tribute to Eddie Harris feat. SEAMUS BLAKE
The groove, style and spirit of Eddie Harris is impeccable, undeniable and infectious! Due to this fact for young jazz musicians from Amsterdam want to pay tribute to this hero of the music that we love. While the band usually performs with Gideon Tazelaar on tenor saxophone, at the New York Jazz Club they will feature the great Seamus Blake. Blake is recognized as one of the finest exponents of contemporary jazz. His music is known for its sophistication, bold improvisations and “sheer swagger”. John Scofield, who hired Seamus for
his “Quiet Band,” called him “extraordinary, a total saxophonist.” Throughout his 24 year career, Seamus has garnered critical praise for his masterful playing, his fine compositional skills and for his facility as a leader. Pre-listen here.

embracing a forward-looking perspective. Martí’s achievements include winning the Best Soloist Award at the Keep an Eye International Jazz Award in 2022, the Grachtenfestival Jazz Competition in 2022, and the Prinses Christina Jazz Concours in 2019 with his trio.
