PEDRO KASTELIJNS & QBAE|
Pedro Kastelijns (Goiânia – Brazil, 1997) began making music to help overcome the weight of the world as he ascended into adulthood. Now as a songwriter, producer and visual artist based in Amsterdam, Pedro’s work encompasses painting, sculpture, installation, music and performance, carrying a playful sensibility and vibrancy. Currently, he has been working around the question ‘How to build a house and how to live in it?”, metaphor for the search for shelter, physical and emotional, in one’s life, preparing for the release of his upcoming album ‘Construção’ (expected Fall 2024). His past releases include early recordings collection Raposa (2015, Lalonge), Assim Nascem as Amoras (2017, Grafisch Atelier Hidrolands), an illustrated poetry book accompanied by an original soundtrack and film, and his debut album Som das Luzis (2019, OAR), featured as ‘Album of the Day’ on the prestigious online music platform Bandcamp and produced by Benke Ferraz, guitarist of Boogarins (Latin Gramy Nominee). Pedro is a Gerrit Rietveld Academie graduate and nominee of the Ron Mandos Young Blood Award 2022 and Lakeside Collection Award 2022, he has played at stages such as Cinetol, OCCII and the Festival Le Guess Who?, and is currently supported by the Mondriaan Fund, the public fund for visual art and cultural heritage in the Netherlands.

INGOMA YESINTU
‘Ingoma Yesintu’ translates to ‘Song of Humanity’ or ‘Folk Song’ in isiZulu, reflecting the ensemble’s mission. This a cappella vocal group, consisting of six singers and a double bassist, unites individuals from diverse global backgrounds by blending elements of various folk traditions. Centered around vocal harmonies enriched with African grooves and rhythms, their music draws inspiration from African gospel choirs, classical chorales, traditional African chants, and jazz improvisation. The choir features talented vocalists from around the world, including countries like Portugal, Spain, India and Korea, each contributing unique cultural elements to the music, creating a rich, multi-layered mosaic. The ensemble is led by bassist Zenzele Mthembu-Salter, who composes and arranges the music for voices.

Zenzele Mthembu-Salter (born 1999 in Cape Town, South Africa) is a bassist and composer currently based in Amsterdam, where he studies jazz double bass at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
