After a series of unfortunate events (And a screening at the Vondelbunker that was barely publicized due to technical uncertainties), Neo Kino A.D. returns for a special event at De Nieuwe Anita. Bringing in a movie that was previously showcased in our 1 year anniversary event.

In an isolated forest, a rendez-vous between an escaped prisoner and gangsters turns into an all-out battle to the death.
Unknown to them, their battleground is actually one of the 666 portals of resurrection and an occult presence is watching the events unfold, awaiting to strike…
Arriving in the film festival circuit like a sudden thunder, Versus embodies the spirit of Peter Jackson’s Bad Taste, but with the “edginess” and visual aesthetics of the 2000’s (leather trench coats, dual-wielding pistol anti-hero etc), alongside a style of hyper-kinetic action sequences that was previously unseen in Japanese cinema.
The crazy blend of genres made sure that Versus took over the cult cinema world by storm and was instrumental in building Ryûhei Kitamura’s presence in Western cinema, where he’s best remembered for the Clive Barker adaptation The Midnight Meat Train (2008).
