Queer Folk Night is a concert series that puts queer artists in the spotlight, creating a warm and intimate space where queerness and folk music can be celebrated together.

With Queer Folk Festival, we’re taking that concept to the next level. Join us at De Nieuwe Anita for an evening featuring six amazing artists, each bringing their own unique voice to the stage. each bringing their own songs, stories, and perspective. Expect an intimate atmosphere, beautiful music, and a welcoming atmosphere where community and music come together.

Babygurl is a queer alternative folk project, bringing raw and bittersweet songs that feel close to the heart and leave the listener haunted. Songwriter Dora Funnekotter translates her experiences as a trans woman into intimate songs about identity, self exploration, loneliness and love. Her intricate guitar parts and introspective vocals create moving performances, inspired by artists like Adrianne Lenker, Elliott Smith and Jacob Alon.

As a queer artist Dora finds it important to also use Babygurl as a platform for other queer creators through artistic collaborations and community building, such as her recurring concert session “Queer Folk Night”

Hana Fatur is a melancholic indie pop artist, whose evocative songwriting and delicate voice guide us through her poetic songs about quiet loneliness, sleepless thoughts and deep sadness. Often called the Slovenian Phoebe Bridgers, the Ljubljana-born and raised artist, who is currently Rotterdam (NL) based, is performing all around Europe and releasing her first EP called “Nocturnal”.

Levi Boon is a musician who creates a world through her music in which the ordinary feels magical. Her songs carry a timeless sense of nostalgia, weaving memories and emotions into melodies that resonate instantly. The warmth in her voice evokes artists such as Carole King, Feist, and Billie Marten. Her music reflects her own life while also serving as a canvas onto which listeners can project their own stories.

Floating through a dream a storm stands before you… The songs of Kasmin ask you to completely give yourself to their stories and help you feel your strongest emotions: Intensity, grief, melancholy, a whole spectrum to float through This spectrum fills their compositions to the last drop, where the story is the most important and structure comes last. With bands like Jeff Buckley, Fink and Andy Shauf as inspiration, be ready to be taken away.

Lotje geeft je de ruimte om de dingen te voelen die je niet helemaal durft te denken. Haar indie-folk songs kijken terug op de gevoelens van woede en frustratie gecentreerd rond angst voor eenzaamheid en opgroeien. De nummers gaan voornamelijk over rouwen over anderen, jezelf, het verleden en toekomst. Met een combinatie van warme band arrangementen en ruwe teksten neemt ze podium en publiek over naar haar wereld. Opgegroeid met Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake en Big Thief schrijft ze emotionele zanglijnen over behapbare gitaarpartijen.

Missing queer representation, especially concerning non-binary individuals, Mx. decided it was time to take matters into their own hands. The result is a bundle of honest indiefolk songs which might make you wanna jump around and cry at the same time.

Mx. is the project of Tisha Smit. It is also a title for anyone who doesn’t fit into being a Mr, Mrs, Miss or a Ms.
